reading time + writing time = summertime!

#cyberPD 2015

Some may think that when the students are away the teachers will play, but that’s not the case!  At least in my PLN it’s not.  Last week #cyberPD embarked on yet another year of bringing educators together for the reading and discussing of a hot topic in the world of literacy.  And, I’m happy to say that this year I am not going to be just lurking or stalking.  I too will be posting and promoting the book of choice for 2015, Digital Reading What’s Essential in Grades 3-8 by William L. Bass ll & Franki Sibberson.

Now, just in case you were wondering what else I have been reading this summer here is a peek at my professional reading.

And, here are the books I am going to read so that I can share with my students and colleagues when the school year begins in August.

Last but not least, I needed to mix in some “just for fun” adult reading!

So it goes without saying, a little reading plus a little writing (a.k.a. blogging) equals summertime!

A special thank you to Cathy Mere of Reflect and Refine, Michelle Nero of Literacy Learning Zone, and Laura Komos for hosting #cyberPD 2015. Click here to learn more about #cyberPD.

  1. Looks like you have some terrific books picked out. I just finished FISH IN A TREE. If you haven’t read RAIN REIGN add that to your pile- it was probably my favorite intermediate grade novel this summer. I’m trying to do CYBER PD but am having trouble keeping up! So glad you decided to do it and not just lurk this summer- it’s a great group of folks!

  2. Amy,
I wrote about summer learning today too! So happy you’ll be jumping into the #cyberPD conversation. Lots of great reading with Fletcher and I have that Reading Strategies Book too! Happy reading!!

  3. Amy–You are going to be busy! I enjoyed looking through your stacks and recognized many books from my own mental TBR list. Just the other night my husband came to bed and found me fast asleep with one finger in the pages of the latest issue of The Reading Teacher. And, yes, he did take a picture. I put it on Facebook and entitled it: Summer vacation teacher style!

  4. I am reading lots of the same books–very excited about Jennifer Serravallo’s. And I keep forgetting about Death By Toilet Paper. It’s been on my list for months as I’ve heard so much about it!
