This is the day to sleep a little extra longer,
not rely on the subtle chime of the alarm.
Snuggle under the blankets,
allow the sun to rise in the sky.
Let it be Saturday!
~~~~~
This is the day to go for a run,
add a change of scenery
as my feet pound the pavement.
Get those miles in,
without worrying about rushing the run.
Let it be Saturday!
~~~~~
This is the day to make my own agenda,
sprinkle in some errands,
a quick excursion to the grocery store,
maybe cruise into T.J. Maxx.
Then grab a bite for lunch.
Let it be Saturday!
~~~~~
This is the day to bask in the sun,
with a book in my hands,
turning the pages,
getting lost someone else’s journey,
meeting people whom I’ll never meet.
Let it be Saturday!
~~~~~
This is the day to celebrate,
time with family
a special dinner on the deck
as the sun sets
or an evening outing
to a best-loved restaurant.
Let it be Saturday!
~~~~~
This is the day we all need
to unwind,
to chillax,
to just slow down.
Let it be Saturday!
It’s a time to celebrate the joy!
This is a perfect manifesto for everyone. Let it be Saturday.
And here I thought I was the only one who used the word ‘chillax’! 🙂 I love the line about “rushing the run.” While I am not a runner, one of my favorite parts of Saturday is not having to rush. Hope your Saturday is a good one!
Ahhhhh—-great poem, Amy. I could feel myself relax into my Saturday morning reading it. Now just insert the word season for day and summer for Saturday and you have me droolin’ 🙂 4 weeks to go here!
I love the line “Let it be Saturday!”
Wonderful ode to that perfect day at the end of the week. Soon, lots of Saturdays?
Hopefully, yes…lots of Saturdays soon!
Joyfully celebrating Saturday together with you!
Amy, the pace is wonderful during this poem. How about taking a slice and adding a photo for the spring gallery? I know we have talked about that. You can have a picture of you and your daughter running in the big race with these words.
This is the day to go for a run,
add a change of scenery
as my feet pound the pavement.
Get those miles in,
without worrying about rushing the run.
Let it be Saturday!
I’m going to give one a try for Tuesday’s SOL post! 🙂
“Let it be Saturday!!!” YES!!!!!!! Thank goodness for Saturdays! 🙂
Love your chant. Enjoy!
Just reading this was relaxing. I still remember several years back when my students taught me the word chillax! Saturdays are the best!
You captured my favorite day with such specifics. Yes, let it be Saturday!
