Hey you!!!
Are you going
to feed meeeeeee?
I want my snacks…
NOW!
a carrot
or
two
or
three—
I’m so cute!
I know you
can’t resist
no matter
how bossy
I can be!

Very cute. I bet you hear them all the time.
Your poem made me think of the book I am reading to my third graders: Fenway & Hattie by Victoria J. Coe. It’s written from a dog’s perspective, and one of my students has been so inspired by it that she has written a slice from her dog’s perspective, and another from her parakeets’ perspectives. Such a fun way to bring voice out in a piece!
I’m going to have to check out Fenway & Hattie. Love those mentor texts!
Amy, you seem like you’re having such fun with this challenge! Love the stretched out meeeeee!
I am! My IG account has served as an inspiration for several of my posts, this one included.
I can hear cupcakes’s little, squeaky, demanding voice. I seem to be the only one that can hear our pets’ voices begging us to feed them.
Adorable! You did a great job capturing the voice here.
Love your poem. Inspiring!
Wonderful poem and great pic of Cupcake! He (she) is adorable! Guinea pigs can be rather insistent when it’s time to eat, can’t they?
