mo-ti-va-tion

Hundreds, maybe thousands
lined the street,
but I saw him
I heard him!
yell, yell, yelling,
“Goooooo, Aimmmmm-meeeeee!”
mo-ti-va-tion
~~~~~
Mile marker 14
there she was
wait, wait, waiting for me
she ran with me
I was ready to quit, go home!
“You got this, Mom
see you at the finish line!”
mo-ti-va-tion
~~~~~
You’re invited
won’t you join me–
it will be fun!
so I went
lift, lift, lifting, weights
crunch, crunch, crunching my core
“You’re so strong!”
she said.

  1. Such a great post! I love how you looked around your life to see all the people who contribute to your successes. Thanks for this reminder! I am motivated by my husband, who is a constant source of inspiration to me, especially when I need it the most.

  2. Love the format and your bolded words to emphasize those who motivated you. I have to say that my writing life has been motivated by fellow slicers who read my posts and encourage my writing life. I’ve motivated my niece who is now a 4th grade teacher. We love to share teaching stories.

  3. I really enjoyed the structure, style and content of your piece! The flow of your poem drew me in, with each stanza posing a new invitation. The core of each section was driven by repetition, which underscored the message of motivation! Fantastic!
